Where were you born?
Barbados
What is your educational background?
I have a BA in Theatre from Bishop’s University
What first got you interested in craft?
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in craft!
How long have you been crafting?
My mother is a nursery school teacher, so I grew up surrounded by all things crafty (and glittery). Art and craft supplies were never in short supply in our home. In high school I started sewing – I had a teddy bear phase, a purse phase, a clothing phase. A friend taught me how to knit in university. I spent the summer after uni teaching basket weaving lakeside in New Hampshire. Then I moved to Japan to teach English and I fell in love with paper crafting while falling in love with the country.
Where do you get your materials?
Here, there and everywhere! Local craft shops, online shops and, of course, my own shop where I source lots of lovely things from Japan and beyond.

What were your first thoughts when asked to write a book?
How exciting!
Has publishing a book changed your life in any way?
I wouldn’t say that it’s changed my life, but it is very exciting to see your work in bookshops.
Any tips for beginners?
Know your trade, keep it simple to start with, don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice, and make yourself known! Social media is an incredible medium for getting your name and brand out there!
What is your favourite craft tool?
The nice thing about paper craft is that it isn’t precious so. Everyone starts somewhere and even “experts” have to tear things up and start again from time to time.
Have you travelled for your craft?
Well, this is more a material than a tool, but I would have to say washi tape! From crafting to pretty cards to marking a seam allowance on my sewing machine to sealing packages in the kitchen, I really do use it for everything. I even keep a roll (or two!) in my purse for tape emergencies – you’d be surprised how often it comes in handy!
Where does your inspiration come from?
Anywhere, really! Sometimes I see a photo on Instagram that gets my brain turning. Other times, it’s a colour combo spotted while out shopping. I also catalogue lots of visual inspiration on Pinterest.
