Designs a little dated and nothing really inspiring. Don't get me wrong a great book for learning but I did not immediately find something I had to make. The usual how to section describing the different folds. Beginners to intermediate folds with a section at the back showing real professional makes. The soft cover is annoying as it kept closing when I was folding so I kept losing the page and where I was. Overall a good book that needs some modern makes.

Linda Truswell

I was sent this book to give my honest opinion about it and this is what I am doing. As a new person to this sort of craft I found the book quite difficult to follow and some of the illustrations were a little complicated too. This is definitely not a book for beginners even though some of the techniques are for beginners.

Marian Carr

I found this a fun and informative book. The steps are easy to follow and once you've mastered these the basic shapes move on to more complicated ones which is a great way to develop your skills. My favourite is the peacock. If you're looking to start origami this is a book to choose.

Lynn Neal

As a beginner to the world of Origami, I found this book really useful! The illustrations throughout are wonderful and clear. The first part helps you to get started with detailed information about types of paper available for this hobby and moves on to explain the folding techniques required. Next there are three sections for different levels of ability which you can progress through whilst referring back to the basic folds as required! A lovely addition to your craft library that can be dipped into for different occasions! The Encyclopedia of Origami Techniques: The Complete, Fully Illustrated Guide to the Folded Paper Arts

Although not a complete beginner in Origami im certainly not a master and I found lots in this book of interest and easy enough to try. The book is divided into sections Getting started, basic techniques, beginner projects, intermediate projects, challenging projects and origami from around the world. The beginner section has some unusual ones like rocking nun and a very nice 10 point star, the intermediate has a really nice square bear and several boxes including an unusual open cube box, the challenging projects has a great double cube and some fun twisted paper designs which I will have to work up to. The origami from around the world is a gallery of photos which are great inspiration, I think this is a book I will come back to but definately the square bear is on my list of ones I want to do.

Helen Lyn

As a complete beginner to origami this book is an essential resource for understanding the basics and starting to produce projects. The instructions and supporting diagrams are very clear and easy to understand and there are photographs of the finished projects. This book would also be suitable for those who have some experience with origami and would like to refresh their skills as well as those that are more experienced as there are also intermediate and advanced projects to try. I would highly recommend this wonderful book.

Ruth Boyd

Good clear instructions for the beginner. A lot of different animals, boxes and shapes.Nicely laid out and interesting read.

Susie Wilkinson

I found this book really useful in learning origami as a beginner and the instructions are very clear.
The book starts with a section discussing types of paper, folding tips, and a very detailed explanation of the folding methods and symbols. The projects are grouped into 3 sections for beginners, intermediates and more challenging projects, and each project comes with informational text, tips and challenges.
After the instructional sections, there are 25 pages of origami models from around the world, which are absolutely stunning.
The book ends with a glossary of the terms used, which is really useful.

Will Tunnicliffe

Superb book! The photos and pictures are so clear and concise for even the most thick fingered of us to give this a go. The diagrams are so easy to follow and a complete novice could master the first folds. A must for anyone starting out with Origami or a Christmas present for a creative type.
So descriptive and beautifully illustrated.
