Amanda Perkins designs and crochets her own blankets, shawls and scarves, and her patterns can be found on Etsy and Ravelry. She has her own blog: amandascrochetblog.blogspot.co.uk, and she regularly self-publishes her designs, which she sells via her website and at shows and exhibitions throughout the UK. Until mid-2015, Amanda ran the Natural Dye Studio from her home in Exmoor, North Devon.
Color fans can rejoice in the many multihued blankets they can make with this creative, fun crochet book. The author includes instructions for 10 ten blankets as well as charts for 2 different color variations for each project. Perkins expands on the typical granny-square pattern to include hexagons, triangles, and circles. These motifs are placed in different combinations, and the finished blankets go beyond a traditional rectangle shape. Charts as well as written patterns are included; those who follow the written pattern will wish Perkins gave a stitch count after every round. Perkins is a color expert, and the introduction explains how to use a color wheel and how to pick shades that blend well together. Color changes happen almost every round, so there will be a lot of ends to weave in, but in the introduction, Perkins describes how she views sewing in ends as a meditative practice. Previously published in 2016 as Rainbow Crocheted Afghans, this title is recommended to libraries that don't own that earlier edition.

Packed with vibrant patterns perfect for experimentation, you can choose your own favourite colourways for these blanket projects, using yarns from your stash. While some of the finished blankets look complex, each is made using simple, small motifs, so these projects are accessible for beginners too, from the small squares of the Knot Garden Blanket to the hexagons of Flower Power.
