Quilting has always been a love of mine.
And I do wish I had this book when I first started.
What it does is explain the quilting process from start to finish and includes techniques such as piecing and stippling along with many others. I certainly learned a lot with book.
There are four projects included and a Quilting Design section, which includes templates and ideas for you to get inspired.
Free Motion Quilting is explained and a guide is given for the specific sewing machine feet to be used.
The Complete Machine Quilting Manual is a brilliant guide to the craft of quilting, it is a fabulous informative book and it's just like having your own personal tutor.
Highly recommended for all levels of quilters

Search Press offer a lot of books that give encyclopedic information about different artforms and techniques and this one, focusing on machine quilting, does not disappoint. It is suitable for all abilities, although the novice quilter, or those with limited experience would likely benefit most from it, as it takes you through everything from the how a sewing machine works to finishing your quilt, with everything in between. I really enjoyed this book because it is split into sections that are easy to follow, and lots of options are explored (for example, the difference in planning for a wholecloth, appliqué or patchwork quilt). You can learn how to choose fabrics for a quilt top, resize designs, make multiple patterns, mark patterns onto a quilt for machining, using wadding and many others. There are lots of photos and diagrams to illustrate points and techniques, which are particularly useful when looking at how to do things like secure your thread and quilting patterns. There are quilt designs at the back and several quilting projects. Although this book does not contain detailed instructions on free machining and patterns you can try, the book as a whole is a very useful tool, as it gives you a complete run through of how you can use your machine for quilting, with lots of tips and shortcuts that you might not have thought to do, no matter how long you have been machining.

This is a useful guide for any machine quilter with beautiful examples of work from different quilters. It takes you right from setting up to finishing techniques and everything in between. I particularly like the sections on channel quilting, stippling and background fillers. The techniques are helpful because they show you how to organise your work to make quilting and patchwork easier. There are six projects plus motifs and templates.
